Dec. 16 (Friday)- Culture Day Celebration@TOMs
Tohatchi Middle School- Culture Day Celebration, Parents and Community Members Invited to attend on Friday, Dec. 16th, lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there!
Dear Parents/Guardians, Community Members, Staff, Faculty & Students of Tohatchi Middle School:
I would like to welcome you back to another great year of school! This school year 2016/2017 is off to a great start. We welcome 6 new cougars to the pride; Virginia Smith-Parent Liaison, Thomas Dewayne-Science Teacher, Marriah Silversmith 6th ELA, Burgess Navarro 7th ELA, Stephanee Nez 8th ELA, Arsenia Balgue-6th Math & Jorge Gutierrez-7th Math. Thank you for joining our team and we all welcome you to Tohatchi.
In addition, we have exchanged the dress code for a modest allowance of student choice to express the way they dress. I would like to give the students a challenge and a thank you. Last year our students had a high rate of attendance and a low rate of discipline. That needs to be celebrated by telling the community and it also demands a challenge. The challenge is for our students to continue the tradition of excellence and keep our attendance rates high and discipline rates low.
Thank you students and thank you parents for all of your support! Let’s make it another amazing year!

Dear Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians and Community Members:
As we prepare to conclude the year 2016 I would like to give a special Thanks to all of the Students, Parents/Guardians, Community Members & The TOMs Staff for a wonderful year! Our school has achieved a “C” status and our last TLI scores indicate that we are well on track to achieving even more. We have said goodbye to many staff and wish them well in all that they do, however we have also welcomed many new staff and thank them for being a part of our team. Our newest staff hires are Ms. Rosemary Hastings for 6th Grade ELA, Hannah Streeter for 7th Grade ELA, & Leah Kayonnie for 6th-8th Grade P.E. As we close out there is still much left to accomplish, we have the second series of SRI and TLI testing beginning Nov. 29th and finishing Dec. 15th. We have another awards assembly, cougars keep striving to do your best! In addition we will end 2016 with an all-day cultural event showcasing our students many talents. What a wonderful way to end the year! Finally, I want to give the Parents/Guardians and Students another Thank You! So far our student attendance has continued to be great and though we have issues with bullying the amount of reported incidences from the beginning of the year till now has decreased and this is a direct result of the school and community coming together with a desire to end the bullying. I wish everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
